New Paltz Youth Basketball Association is a very good experience for youth in New Paltz, and many students have had positive memories. There is a normal season where all of the teams play against eachother, and after that period they compete in a tournament until one team wins the league. 

While other recreational sports are more casual and fun, basketball is definitely more competitive and serious for young athletes. This is very beneficial for kids because they can have a positive and educational experience trying out more competitive environments. 

For basketball, you will need either sneakers or basketball shoes and good athletic clothing. This includes shorts, socks, and a shirt for under the provided jersey. The jersey will be given on the first game day. The league takes place in the winter, usually from January to March and the best teams end their seasons last.

Before the season, the players play in an evaluation where they compete in games.
