When you are being arrested, officers must tell you these rights – the right to remain silent and to obtain a lawyer, for all people in the US. This makes sure that everybody knows what their rights are, as not everybody knows the Constitution. If the officers do not state your Miranda rights, things that you say are not allowed to be used against you.
